There has been a lot of hue and cry over the inclusion of Baluchistan in the Indo-Pak Joint Statement. What does it mean to us, the general public. Let us look at both the scenarios, India’s involvement and India’s non-involvement.
If, we have nothing to hide as the Prime Minister propagated, why should we be bothered about it. If Indians are not involved in any activity, directly on indirectly that might have extended any form of direct or indirect support to Baluchistan’s struggle, what is wrong in being open with someone who claims our involvement in Baluchistan.
If, in some form or other, either directly or indirectly, Baluchistan has benefitted by some voluntary or involuntary action of India, what is wrong in correcting ourselves, if deemed appropriate?
How long will we be worried about the text and try to be more diplomatic and non-committal? This is how we have dragged our neighbors issue for decades together. If we are committed to providing a peaceful neighborhood for our future generation, we need to resolve issues now, during our life time. We don’t want to pass on issues to the next generation as ancestral properties.
We need solutions and not egoistic and strategic statements and counter statements. Statements does not resolve anything. If we, Indians, are at fault in some areas, let us be courageous enough in accepting it and correcting it. Solutions can come only through dialogue or war? Are we encouraging war here by pointing out things that should have or should not have been included in the Joint Statement?
It is not fair for us to think that we should hide our mistakes, if any, and only ask Pakistan to correct their mistakes. Lets be fair and support any and all parties that work towards peace, be it Congress or BJP or anyone for that matter. Surely Walk-outs does not help and immaturity shown by many people, who object to the inclusion of Baluchistan, only highlights the Baluchistan issue in the Joint Statement than it would have otherwise.
Work has to be done - Peace has to be negotiated - Issues have to be resolved. My request to the Politicians is “Kill your political moves and scores and try to leave behind a legacy by resolving problems concerning national interest”.

our politicians do not want solution to any issue. They want the issues alive, so that they can survive. they would use the issues as trump card ast the time of election. If they are willing to solve any issue or problem then they are not politicians. Our public are fools, and they are happy to be so. That is democracy. Which public is bothered about Baluchistan, 11/9 or 26/11. Our people have forgotten even 15/8 and 26/1., why should they bother about other dates. Now Swine flu has come to make them forget other issues like cost of living. Our politicians would make sure that Swine flu lives longer.
